Tulane repels late East Carolina rally

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Sam Honecks sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning provided a key insurance run as Tulane held off East Carolina for a 5-4 victory on Friday night.

Shooter Hunt (9-1) allowing one run on five hits with nine strikeouts and three walks in seven innings for the Green Wave (34-15-1, 11-6-1 Conference USA). Rob Segedin picked up his fourth save.

With Tulane holding the 5-2 lead, Dustin Harrington singled and scored on Drew Schieber's double off the left-center field wall. Harrison Eldridge drove Schieber home with a double down the right field line. Ryan Wood grounded out to shortstop to end the game.

Seth Maness (8-1) suffered his first loss of the season for East Carolina (36-14, 11-8), which had a nine-game winning streak and a 13-game home winning streak broken.
