There was an early morning triple murder in Lafourche Parish.
Around 2:00am Sheriff Craig Webre says a 911 caller reported hearing gunfire in the 600 block of St. Louis Street in Raceland.
A news release says when deputies arrived "they discovered three black males in a dark Mustang had all been fatally shot."
Authorities say a 25-year-old man not far from the scene was shot in the leg. He told cops he was walking down the street when he was shot by someone who drove by in a dark SUV.
Brandon Gabriel was hospitalized.
Sheriff's Spokesman Larry Weidel said in a release, "There were many shell casings around the Mustang leading investigators to believe the weapon used was an AK-47. Also, .45 caliber shells were found about half a block away near where the lone individual was shot."
Sheriff Webre said this is the first triple homicide to occur in Lafourche Parish in his memory.
