Severe weather sweeps southeast Louisiana


Another round of severe weather is moving across the region. 

"We're looking at a very heavy...thunderstorms coming through," said Channel 4 meteorologist Laura Buchtel, "with a possibility of winds in excess of 60 miles an hour."

A tornado watch and flash flood watch has been posted for all of Southeast Louisiana.

The severe weather is knocking out power across the south shore.

"Around the Greaten area, we'vie got about 14,000 customers without power," said Entergy spokesman Morgan Stewart.  "In the Metairie-Kenner area, we've got about seven thousand customers without power.'

On the north shore, CLECO officials report 2,000 customers are without power, and the Washington-St. Tammany electric co-op reports 8,300 customers without power, including 8,500 St. Tammany Parish customers.
