The Louisiana State Senate voted Tuesday to approve a bill that bans motorists from text messaging while driving.
The bill next heads to the state house, where, last month, a similar bill was passed that bans the use of hand held cellphones while driving in Louisiana. That bill also makes it illegal to talk on a handheld cell phone, unlike the senate bill.
It's possible the house could approve the senate version of the bill, or the senate could approve the house version of the bill.
If that doesn't happen, the two bills would be headed to a conference committee to work out the differences.
