Nagin releases documents to council

The New Orleans City Council meet later today, and it could become a showdown with the mayor's office.  Some council members have been seeking answers about the city's crime surveillance cameras, and the 311 phone system.

Mayor Ray Nagin says there's no animosity between the two branches of city government.

"This is a very  intelligent group of individuals," said the mayor.  "I respect them."

The mayor said the recent dispute about handing over information regarding the crime cameras and 311 service have been "blown out of proportion."

The mayor's office released some of the requested information late Wednesday, but the council still has questions, says council president Arnie Fielkow.

"What you see is the council trying to exercise its legislative responsibility, to do its job," Fielkow said.

One member of the council, Shelley Midura, says she's still not satisfied with what the mayor's office has released, and may still move to issue subpoenas.
