Man recently acquitted in high profile murder now wanted in shooting

New Orleans Police have named the teenager recently acquitted of fatally shooting a Hot 8 Brass Band member in 2006 as a suspect ina Sunday morning shooting on Canal Street.

Police announced Monday that 19 year old David Bonds is the suspect in the shooting, which happened early Sunday morning following an argument in the 700 block of Canal Street.  Investigators say two witnesses identifed Bonds as the shooter.

Bonds was found not guilty last month by an Orleans Parish Jury of shooting and killing Dineral Shavers in December 2006.  A juror was dismissed after telling the judge that he believed Bonds was making intimidating gestures toward a witness during the trial.
