Jindal to face more V.P. questions today

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is packing his bags for a trip to the McCain ranch in Arizona. First he will face questions about the trip today at an afternoon news conference.

In a statement he says the meeting with presumptive Republican Presidential aNominee John McCain is just to talk about topics like Gulf Coast recovery.

The New York times says it's because Jindal among the last few names on the list of possible John McCain running mates on the Republican ticket.

Our political analyst, Bernie Pinsonat, says Jindal should run for Vice President if he's offered the gig. He says Jindal could keep his job as governor during the campaign.

"The loss to the state would be he wouldn't be here full time working. But... it would be great publicity for Louisiana to have a running mate of the president Bobby Jindal from Louisiana," said Pinsonat. He says if he wins, Jindal could do wonders for Louisiana as V.P. and if he loses Jindal would remain governor.

The governor's plans to meet with John McCain also fueled speculation and joking at the state Capitol in Baton Rouge. Critics of Jindal's jokingly handed out "Jindal for V.P." bumper stickers.

Political Analyst Clancy Dubois also likes the idea of Jindal for V.P. "If he were to be chosen as the running mate, and if he and McCain were to win... it would be huge," Dubois said. "To have the Vice President come from Louisiana would really put us on the map. It would give us access at the highest corridors to funds, recovery, infrastructure, coastal erosion... all of the needs that we have."

"What a great opportunity for Jindal and for Louisiana to have its governor with the potential of being the Vice President of the United State," Pinsonat added.
