Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and lawmakers have agreed on an income tax break that would take effect next year.
Jindal said Wednesday the plan would roll back income tax brackets, giving individual taxpayers a break on income between $25,000 and $50,000. Those income threshholds double for couples. The change would go into effect on January 1.
The House tax committee is scheduled to vote on the bill by Senator Buddy Shaw later Wednesday. Shaw, a Shreveport Republican, had originally wanted the $300 million tax break to take effect this year. |
