I-10 roadwork in Metarie to continue through at least the end of the year

Commuters traveling on I-10 at Causeway and Bonnabel will have to deal with construction delays for many months to come.

Brendan Rush with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says the entire project to widen I-10 in Metarie will take at least seven more months.

"We did have some issues with some utility work that was unexpected," said Rush. "We had some Bell South lines that needed to be relocated, so that put us behind."

The project's projected completion date is also subject to the whims of Mother Nature.

"Well, weather is always an issue with any of these projects, but right now we're moving ahead and trying to get done by the end of the year," said Rush.
