House changes key ethics provision
Associated Press Reporting

The House has approved a change to Louisiana's ethics code that supporters say will streamline the investigation and prosecution of alleged violations.
Ethics legislation passed earlier this year has been touted by Governor Bobby Jindal as proof of a ``new Louisiana,'' but critics say one provision actually makes it harder to prove violations of the ethics code.
House members on Monday approved legislation that would change a passage dealing with the burden of proof required for a guilty finding. Supporters said the change will fix the problem and make it easier to prove wrongdoing.
The measure moves to the Senate. |
