Tropical Storm Dolly is over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and slowing down. That increases the likelihood that it could become the first Gulf hurricane of the season.
The National Hurricane Center expects Dolly to make landfall on the Mexican Gulf Coast some time tomorrow or early Thursday.
Because of Dolly's presence in the southern Gulf, the chance of rain in New Orleans has increased, says meteorologist Laura Buchtel in the Channel 4 Weahter Center. Otherwise, the fourth named storm of the season won't have much of an impact on Louisiana.
