Deputies arrest man in counterfeit probe


Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a 35-year-old Loranger man accused of making and selling high quality, counterfeit $20 and $100 bills.

Deputies say investigators bought some of the fake bills with the aid of an informant, leading to the arrest of Ron Michael Rainey.

Deputies also searched Rainey
Rainey was taken to Parish Prison and booked on the count of monetary instrument abuse.

If convicted of the counterfeiting count, Rainey faces a fine of not more than 1 million dollars and prison time of not more than 10 years.
