A Senate committee today delayed action on a bill to expand the law that bans smoking in public places in Louisiana.
The bill "prohibits smoking in any restaurant or bar if food is served at any time while such restaurant or bar is open to the public."
Currently the Louisiana Clean Indoor Air Act has an exception that lets smokers light up in bars that serve limited amounts of food.
This bill would lift that exception and only allow smoking if no food at all is served.
